Crook named 2005-06 SCC Men's Coach of the Year
LBCC baseball head coach Casey Crook was named the 2005-06 South Coast Conference Men’s Coach of the Year after his state championship season this past spring.
The award was announced at the SCC athletic directors’ meeting Wednesday morning at Cerritos College.
Crook receives the conference men’s coach of the year honor following LBCC’s school-record setting state championship season.
The 2006 Vikings closed the season with 41-10 overall record, the 41 wins the most in school history. It was LBCC’s first state title since 1976.
Just last month, Crook was named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Diamond Sports Company California Community Colleges Coach of the Year.
He was also named South Coast Conference Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Vikings to a 21-3 conference record and an SCC title.
LBCC nominated women’s basketball head coach Trimeka Jackson for the women’s conference coach of the year, which was won by Mt. SAC women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman.
In just her second season as head coach, Jackson guided the Vikings to a South Coast Conference South Division championship with an overall record of 17-11 and 6-2 in division play. It was LBCC first SCC championship since the 1991-92 season.
Long Beach also qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the first time since 2001-02. Jackson was named 2005-06 South Coast Conference South Division Coach of the Year.
