Sophomore wide receiver LaTroy Dinkins was kept quiet in the first quarter, but he made his presence felt in the second. Dinkins had 5 receptions for 86 yards, including a 34-yard TD catch with 30 seconds left in the second.
Golden West’s Jake Lipton nailed a 38-yard field goal as time expired in the half to bring the score of 27-10 at the break.
The second half was quiet as scoring went. Vikings closed out a five-play, 40-yard drive with a one-yard TD run by freshman quarterback Josh Powell to close out the scoring at 34-10.

The LBCC defense played a huge role in the win, totaling four interceptions, a blocked punt, and one forced fumble. The defense also held Golden West passers to just four completions.
Interceptions by Jonte Stroud, Junior Fasavlu, William Alo, and Don Tupou either stopped Golden West rallies or gave the Vikings good starting position for the offense.
Stroud also blocked a punt and recovered a fumble and added 3 tackles. Freshman Darvide Battiste totaled 5 tackles to lead the Vikings.
Sanchez had a good night kicking. On kickoffs, he booted three for touchbacks, while his other two kicks were returned from deep in the Golden West end zone. Hit nailed both his field goals attempts, but his lone blemish was a missed PAT kick (2 for 3).
Golden West (1-3) managed just 120 yards of total offense. Quarterback Wes Obie threw for 60 yards on 4 of 19 passing with 3 interceptions.
James Crowley led the Rustlers with 8 carries for 20 yards and had 2 catches for 35 yards.
With the win, the Vikings improve to 2-2 on the season. LBCC returns to action next Saturday (Sep 30) when it travels to Cerritos College to face the rival Falcons.
