Aispuro named MFC Co-Player of the Year, Vikings earn 15 all-conference honors
LBCC sophomore quarterback Alex Aispuro (Jordan HS) was named Mission Football Conference American Division Co-Offensive Player of the Year and head coach Jerry Jaso earned Co-Coach of the Year honors at the postseason coaches meeting Tuesday morning at LBCC. In all, the Vikings came away with 15 all-conference accolades.
Aispuro is currently having one of the finest years in LBCC history. He has completed 219 of 359 passes this season for 2,996 yards and 31 touchdowns, with just six interceptions.
This past weekend, Aispuro passed for a school-record 589 yards in LBCC’s 38-0 win over Palomar.
Aispuro shares the honor with Fullerton running back Joe Chatman.
Jaso captured his second straight coach of the year honor after winning his second American Division championship in 2005. He shares coach the year honors with Bill Brown of Riverside.
Long Beach sophomore wide receiver Stanley Franks (Downey HS) and sophomore free safety Damion Porter (Lakewood HS) also earned unanimous first-team All-Mission Conference American Division honors.
LBCC is currently 7-3 overall and went 4-1 in division play as the Vikings head into the American Bowl this Friday against Allan Hancock College. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
