Long Beach set to host Allan Hancock in American Bowl
Long Beach City College will host Allan Hancock College in the 2005 Mission Conference American Bowl on Friday, November 18. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
General admission tickets are $7, with student, faculty/staff, seniors, and childrens ticket set for $5.
Long Beach just missed a spot in the Southern California playoffs and is ranked No. 9 in the final regular season poll. The Vikings are coming off a 38-0 win at Palomar College on Saturday.
LBCC is 7-3 overall and won a share of the Mission Conference American Division championship with a 4-1 record. It was Long Beach's second straight division title and third over the past four seasons.
The Vikings will be making their third bowl game appearance in the last four years and 17th overall.
Hancock enters the contest with an identical 7-3 overall record and is ranked No. 10 in the final SoCal poll. Hancock finished third in the Western State Conference North Division with a 5-2 mark and is making its third straight bowl game appearance.
These two teams last met in Santa Maria on September 21, 2002. The Vikings cruised to a 42-17 win in the second week of the season.
In 1997, the Vikings faced the Bulldogs in the Orange County Bowl. Long Beach won the game by a final score of 13-7.
