Men’s Basketball:
No. 8 Vikings to host No. 9 Antelope Valley in playoffs
The Long Beach City College men's basketball team has received the No. 8 seed in the upcoming 2006-07 Southern California Regional Playoffs.
The Viking men will host No. 9 Antelope Valley College on Friday, February 23. Tip off is schedule for 7:30 pm at the Hall of Champions Gym.
The Vikings enter the postseason after winning their third straight South Coast Conference South Division championship. Under 16th-year head coach Gary Anderson, LBCC is 21-10 overall this season and closed its conference schedule with a perfect 8-0 mark.
The Vikings are one of the hottest teams in the state currently riding a 14-game winning streak.
Antelope Valley carries a 27-6 overall record and finished third in the Foothill Conference with an 11-3 record.
Long Beach and Antelope Valley have met once this season. On December 21 in Lancaster, the Vikings defeated the Marauders 89-76.
The winner of the contest will face the winner of No. 1 seed Bakersfield and either No. 16 Cuyamaca or No. 17 Santa Ana on March 3 at the site of the higher remaining seed.
