Men’s Golf:
Vikings take second place at Foothill Conference opener
The LBCC men’s golf team got its conference match schedule off to a good start with a second-place finish in its first Foothill Conference six-team match of the season. The event was hosted by Victor Valley College and was played at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club.
College of the Desert shot 378 as a team to edge the Vikings (379) by one stroke for first place. Rio Hondo (385), Mt. SAC (390), Mt. San Jacinto (412), and Antelope Valley (426) round out the team scoring.
Sophomores Derrick Zellmer and Clay McCutcheon, and freshman Garrett Whitman all shot 74 to lead LBCC and tie for second place overall.

COD’s Rhett Colbrese took medalist honors with his 73 card.
