Men’s Soccer:
Vikings post big 4-0 shutout-win over visiting L.A. Harbor
Freshman forward Arturo Guizar (Bellflower HS) scored two goals to help lead the Long Beach City College men’s soccer team to an easy 4-0 South Coast Conference win over L.A. Harbor College Tuesday afternoon at LBCC.
It was the Vikings’ third straight victory and second consecutive shutout. The win improved Long Beach to 12-2-2 overall and 7-2-0 in the SCC.
Guizar broke free for goals in the 30th and 65th minute. The Vikings got a penalty kick goal from sophomore midfielder Ivan Valencia (Jordan HS) in the 45th minute, and freshman forward Aaron Gutcher Mayfair HS) added a goal in the 64th minute and assisted on Guizar’s second.
Sophomore Brendon Welch (St. John Bosco HS) posted 3 saves in 75 minutes and freshman Todd Emigh (Wilson HS) had 4 saves over the final 15 minutes to combine for the shutout.
For L.A. Harbor (3-10-5, 0-8-1 SCC), Jaime Del Toro Magallon posted 5 saves in the losing effort.
The Vikings return to action on Friday (Oct 27) when they travel to El Camino College for a 4 pm SCC game.
