Men’s Soccer:
Long Beach records third straight shutout with 2-0 win
Coming off of an emotional win over Cerritos on Wednesday, the Vikings traveled to El Camino College and recorded a 2-0 South Coast Conference win.
The win improved Long Beach to 13-1-4 overall and 5-1-2 in the SCC.
Freshman Warwick Newbold got the scoring started with a header goal off of a cross from freshman Kevin Morgan in minute 16.
The game remained 1-0, until Ritchie Ponce, (Lakewood High School), scored in minute 87 off of an assist from fullback Tony Garcia (California High School).
Sophomore Chris DeWalt recorded his third consecutive shutout, while making four saves in the match.
Long Beach, currently second in the SCC, plays conference leader Pasadena City College at home on Tuesday, October 28 at 4 p.m.
