Morgan’s hat-trick leads Long Beach to 3-1 win over Harbor
Long Beach City College freshman forward Kevin Morgan erupted to score three goals to lead the Vikings to a 3-1 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday.
Long Beach was able to bounce back from a tough 3-2 loss at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday to pull out today’s crucial conference win and improve its record to 14-3-4 overall and 6-3-2 in the SCC.
Morgan posted first-half goals in the 15th and 27th minutes on cross passes from sophomore Paco Prado and freshman Manuel Batista.
LBCC led 2-0 before Harbor finally got on the board in the 38th minute thanks to a goal by Alex Chavez.
Morgan sealed the win for Long Beach in the 50th minute. Jose Caniz fed Morgan with a long breakaway pass up the middle that he was able to finish for the hat trick.
Sophomore Chris DeWalt posted eight saves in goal for the Vikings. For Harbor (12-6-2, 4-5-2 SCC), Robert Sanchez totaled five saves.
The LBCC men return to action on Friday (Nov. 7) at 3 p.m. when they host El Camino College Compton Center in their final regular season home game.
