Vikings earn postseason spot with 2-1 win over Pasadena
The LBCC men’s soccer team secured a spot in the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the second straight year with its 2-1 win over visiting Pasadena City College in both teams’ final South Coast Conference game.
Sophomore forward Adam Clayton (Wilson HS) broke a 1-1 tie with his goal in the 87th minute to give the Vikings (10-10-4, 5-7-2 SCC) the win. Freshman midfielder Santiago Busatto (Wilson HS) got Long Beach on the board with his first-half goal.
Freshman Brendon Welch (St. John Bosco HS) posted six saves in goal for the Vikings.
Nathaniel Smith scored Pasadena’s (8-6-5, 5-5-4 SCC) lone goal in the 75th minute to tie up the game.
The Vikings will learn their playoff fate on Thursday when the SoCal regional playoff brackets are released. LBCC will likely play Saturday's first-round game on the road.
