Men’s Soccer:
SCC champion Vikings get No. 3 SoCal seed, first-round bye
With its 2-1 win over East Los Angeles College last Friday, Long Beach City College secured its first South Coast Conference championship since 2000. On Tuesday, the Vikings were rewarded with the No. 3 seed for the 2006 Southern California Regional Playoffs.
The top-four seeds in the tourney receive a first-round bye. Long Beach will host either No. 6 L.A. Mission or No. 11 Golden West College on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 2 pm.
The Vikings enter the postseason with a 16-2-3 overall record and went 11-2-1 in conference play to win the SCC title. Long Beach is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation.
L.A. Mission enters the playoffs with an 18-1-3 overall record. L.A. Mission is the Western State Conference champion with a 12-1-1 mark.
Golden West is 9-8-5 overall and was fifth in the Orange Empire Conference with a 4-6-4 record.
