Today, the No. 6 seeded Vikings host the No. 11 seed San Diego City College Knights in an opening-round game of the 2007 Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Long Beach makes its fourth straight postseason appearance under co-head coaches Cameron Beaulac and Pat Noyes.
Saturday’s game also marks the third time during the past four years that LBCC and San Diego City meet in the first round. In San Diego, the Knights knocked Long Beach out of the playoffs in 2004 and 2005.
The Vikings closed the 2007 regular season with an 8-6-7 overall record and finished third in the South Coast Conference with a 5-5-4 record.
San Diego City is 14-6-3 overall and was third in the Pacific Coast Conference with a 7-4-1 mark.
These two teams opened the 2007 season against each other and played to a 1-1 draw on August 28.
The winner of today’s game will travel to face No. 3 Santa Ana on Tuesday (Nov 20). As a top-three seed, Santa Ana receives a first-round bye.
