Tennis:
Vikings
defeat El Camino College
7-2
in SCC match at home
The
LBCC men’s tennis team won its second straight
match, defeating El Camino College 7-2 in a South
Coast Conference contest at the Viking Tennis
Center on Tuesday.
The
Vikings opened up the match winning two of three
doubles contests. Ashley Tomlin and Geoffrey Tomlin
teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Jay Sakolsatayatoen
and Khoi Phan of El Camino 8-1. Dexter Dizon and
Marco Paco won their No. 2 doubles by a score
of 8-4 over ECC’s Sean Packusos and Jason Olson.
In
singles action, LBCC won five of six matches to
close out the team victory. Geoffrey Tomlin had
an easy time at No. 1 singles, beating Sakolsatayatoen
6-0, 6-1. Ashley Tomlin, Dizon, Brian Conklin,
and Meng Ear also pulled out individual wins for
the Vikings.
The
win improved Long Beach ’s record to 6-5-1 overall
and 3-2-1 in conference play.
