Men’s Track and Field:
Long Beach qualifies four for Southern California Finals
The Long Beach City College men’s track and field team will have four athletes competing at Saturday’s Southern California Finals at Mt. San Antonio College.
Leading the way is freshman Michael Hancock in the 110-meter high hurdles. At the SoCal prelims last Saturday, Hancock cruised to first place in the event with a time of 14.36.
Hancock has the state’s top time in the 110 hurdles at 14.12, which was set at the South Coast Conference Finals. Following the SCC Championships, Hancock was named the SCC Men’s Track Athlete of the Year.
Freshman Tyler Hinson will compete in the high jump. He finished tied for fourth at the prelims with a season-best mark of 6-5.
Freshman Ryan Lauderdale’s throw of 177-7 in the javelin was good for fifth place at the prelims and qualified him for the SoCal Finals.
Sophomore Bobby Workman completes the list of Vikings heading to the finals, as he took sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.86.
The SoCal Finals are set for Saturday, May 9 at Mt. SAC. The meet will begin with the men’s javelin at 10 a.m. |
