Men’s Track and Field:
Ware leads Long Beach to 16th place at SoCal Finals
Long Beach City College sophomore sprinter Jared Ware totaled 13 points in two events to account for all the Vikings’ scoring at Saturday’s Southern California finals at UC San Diego.
Long Beach finished in 16th place. Moorpark won the team title with 98 points, followed by Riverside (87.5) and Pasadena (86) in the top three.
Ware took second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.24 and was fourth in the 100 after clocking in at 10.64.
Also for Long Beach, freshman Josh Powell threw 164-9 for 10th place in the javelin.
Ware will compete in both his events as LBCC’s lone men’s representative at next weekend’s California Community College track and field championship meet, set for May 18-19 in San Mateo. |
