Men’s Track and Field:
Vikings take fifth place at state finals, earn six top-fives
The LBCC men scored 44 team points to take fifth place at the 2005 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Track and Field Championships. The two-day event took place on May 13-14 at American River College in Sacramento.
Long Beach earned a state title in one event and brought home a total of six top-five showings.
The Vikings’ lone win of the weekend came in the 4x400-meter relay. LBCC blazed to a season-best state time of 3:10.13 to earn the state title.
Freshman Brian Woods had a good overall weekend for the Vikings. He finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.62 and was fifth in the 100 at 10.85.
He was also a member of LBCC’s 4x100-meter relay team that clocked in at 41.12 to take sixth place.

Mitchell Moore, 400 meters, 3rd, 47.15
Tracy Sessions, 400 hurdles, 2nd, 52.23
Leslie Cedeno, 400 hurdles, 7th, 54.82
Rodney Hawkins, triple jump, 4th, 45-1 1/4
City College of San Francisco and Mt. San Antonio College totaled 63 points to finished tied for the team state title with Moorpark taking third at 55 points.
