Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings go 3-0 in pool play, fall in quarterfinals of LBCC Tourney
The Long Beach City College men's volleyball team compiled a 3-0 record in pool play but suffered a 30-28 quartefinal loss to Santa Monica College at the 16-team LBCC Tournament on Saturday.
In pool action, the Vikings won six of seven games. LBCC beat Long Beach State 2-1 (30-25, 28-30, 15-8), Moorpark 2-0 (30-25, 30-23), and Palomar 2-0 (30-28, 30-24).
Irvine Valley College defeated Utah Valley State College 30-25 in the tournament final.
The Vikings return to action next Saturday (Feb. 3) when they will compete in the San Diego tournament.
LBCC begins match play on February 7 when it hosts Orange Coast College at 6 pm.
The defending state champions compiled an 18-0 record last season and went 10-0 in Western State Conference play. Randy Totorp returns for his fourth season as head coach of the Vikings in 2007. |
