Volleyball:
Vikings
sweep Irvine Valley on the road in match opener
Freshman
outside hitter Sam Pech totaled 17 kills to lead
the LBCC men’s volleyball team to a 3-0 win at
Irvine Valley College in the Vikings’ first match
of the 2004 season.
Long
Beach won by scores of 32-30, 30-25, and 30-25
to earn new head coach Randy Totorp the first
victory of his LBCC career.
“It
was a good first win and a great way to start
the season,” said Totorp.
Sophomore
outside hitter Malu Seiuli had 15 kills, while
sophomore Jon James chipped in with 15 kills.
LBCC
(1-0) returns to action on Friday (Feb. 20) when
the Vikings host Golden West College at 6 pm
in their first home match of 2004.
