Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings continue unbeaten streak, sweep Golden West 3-0
The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team surged to its seventh straight win this season and 25th consecutive dating back to last year, as the Vikings cruised to a three-game sweep of visiting Golden West College on Wednesday in their final non-conference match of 2007.
Long Beach won the match by scores of 30-25, 30-21, and 30-24. The win improved the Vikings to 7-0 overall while Golden West fell to 1-5.
Freshman outside hitter Shaun Bluth led the Vikings with 10 kills to go along with 5 digs and 2 blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Derrick Seay added 9 kills and 3 blocks, while sophomore middle blocker Richard Carmerlengo added 8 kills and 6 blocks.
Long Beach will have over a week off until its next match. The Vikings open up Western State Conference play on March 9 when its hosts El Camino College at 6 pm. |
