Volleyball:
Long
Beach beats San Diego Mesa in four games at home
The
Long Beach City College men’s volleyball
team won its second straight match by defeating
visiting San Diego Mesa College 3-1 in non-conference
action Friday night.
Long
Beach won the match by scores of 30-16, 30-22,
25-30, and 30-10.
With
the win, LBCC improved its record to 4-2 on the
season under new head coach Randy Totorp. Sophomore
Malu Seiuli outside hitter led the Vikings with
16 kills and 5 blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Sam Pech chipped in with 10 kills, 8 digs, and
5 blocks, while sophomore setter Justin Wegnes
had 50 assists.
“This
team is starting to come together,” said
Totorp. “It’s good that we are building
some momentum as we get closer to our conference
schedule. Hopefully we peak at the right time.”
San
Diego Mesa fell to 0-6 on the season after tonight’s
loss.
The
Vikings return to action next Friday (Mar 12)
when they will hold their annual alumni game at
7 pm.
