Long Beach beats San Diego Mesa in four games at home

The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team won its second straight match by defeating visiting San Diego Mesa College 3-1 in non-conference action Friday night.

Long Beach won the match by scores of 30-16, 30-22, 25-30, and 30-10.

With the win, LBCC improved its record to 4-2 on the season under new head coach Randy Totorp. Sophomore Malu Seiuli outside hitter led the Vikings with 16 kills and 5 blocks. Freshman outside hitter Sam Pech chipped in with 10 kills, 8 digs, and 5 blocks, while sophomore setter Justin Wegnes had 50 assists.

“This team is starting to come together,” said Totorp. “It’s good that we are building some momentum as we get closer to our conference schedule. Hopefully we peak at the right time.”

San Diego Mesa fell to 0-6 on the season after tonight’s loss.

The Vikings return to action next Friday (Mar 12) when they will hold their annual alumni game at 7 pm.
