Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings open conference schedule with sweep of El Camino
The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team cruised to its eighth win of the season and 26th in a row winning after downing visiting El Camino College 3-0 in the Vikings’ Western State Conference opener on Friday.
Long Beach swept the match from El Camino (5-5, 1-2 WSC) by scores of 30-21, 30-24, and 30-21. The Vikings have rolled to three-game sweeps in six of their eight matches this season.
Sophomore outside hitter Naseri Tumanuvao led the Vikings with 14 kills and added 3 blocks. Sophomore opposite hitter Adam Church chipped in with 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 aces.
The LBCC coaching staff also had high praise for the play of freshman libero Bojan Vucicevic. His passing led to the success of the Viking offense as he posted a 2.75 serve reception.
The win improved the Vikings to 8-0 overall and 1-0 in Western State Conference play. LBCC returns to action next Wednesday (Mar. 14) when it travels to face rival L.A. Pierce College for a 7 pm WSC match. |
