Volleyball:
Vikings
open up conference play with 3-0 sweep of Moorpark
The
Long Beach City College men’s volleyball
team opened up its Western State Conference schedule
with a three-game sweep of visiting Moorpark College
Wednesday night at the Viking Gym. Long Beach
won the match by scores of 30-21, 30-28, and 30-26.
LBCC’s
third straight win improved its record to 5-2
overall and 1-0 in conference play under first-year
head coach Randy Totorp. Moorpark fell to 1-5
overall and 0-2 in the WSC after tonight’s
loss.
Freshman
outside hitter Sam Pech led the Vikings with 15
kills and 8 digs. Freshman middle blocker Larry
Taylor added 13 kills and 5 blocks, while sophomore
setter Thomas Vito had 50 assists.
The
Vikings return to action on Friday (March 19)
when they travel to El Camino College for a 6
pm conference match. |
