Men’s Volleyball:
Long Beach downs Moorpark in four games to remain unbeaten
The wins keep coming for the Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team. Tonight, the Vikings beat defending state champion Moorpark College 3-1 in a Western State Conference match to improve their undefeated record to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
LBCC won the match over Moorpark (9-3, 4-2 WSC) by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-20. The win closed out the first round of Western State Conference action for the Vikings.
Sophomore outside hitter Ryun Georges (Los Gatos, CA) had a team-high 15 kills to go along with seven digs and three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Sam Pech (Jordan HS) led LBCC with nine digs and added 14 kills and two blocks.
Freshman opposite hitter Jon Sutton’s (Bishop Montgomery HS) six kills and three blocks off the bench helped spark the Vikings to the win following the game two loss.
Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Mar. 31) when its hosts El Camino College in a 6 p.m. WSC match.
