Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings still alive for conference title after sweep of El Camino
The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 Western State Conference win over visiting El Camino College on Friday.
The Vikings won the match in a sweep by scores of 30-23, 30-26, and 30-23 to improve their record to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. El Camino fell to 10-6 and 5-4 in the WSC.
Freshman outside hitter Casey Bennett led the Vikings with 12 kills, eight digs, and three blocks.
Freshman setter Andrew Marques had a team-high 40 assists to go with four digs and two blocks, and sophomore libero Bojan Vucicevic added five digs and one ace.
LBCC’s hopes for a fifth straight conference title are still alive. The Vikings can capture at least a share of the WSC championship. Long Beach must win their final regular season match on April 16 against Moorpark and first-place Santa Monica must lose to either Moorpark tonight or on April 14 against L.A. Pierce. |
