Volleyball:
Vikings
make it nine wins-in-a-row with 3-1 defeat of
El Camino
The
LBCC men’s volleyball team continued its
winning ways Wednesday night by beating visiting
El Camino College 3-1 in a Western State Conference
match.
The
Vikings earned their ninth consecutive win after
defeating El Camino by scores of 30-23, 30-27,
23-30, and 30-26.
Tonight’s
win improved Long Beach’s record to 11-2
overall and 7-0 in the WSC. With second-place
L.A. Pierce College (6-1 WSC) having a bye tonight,
the Vikings now hold a one-match lead in the conference
standings.
Freshman
right side Jonathan Charette (Pearl City HS, Hawaii)
had a big game for the Vikings, leading the squad
with 17 kills, 5 blocks, and 11 digs. Sophomore
outside hitter Thomas Vito (Waipahu HS, Hawaii)
added 12 kills with 8 digs, while freshman setter
Garrett Morales (Millikan HS) dished out a team-high
62 assists.
LBCC will have a week off until its next match.
The Vikings returns to action on April 14 when
they travel to Santa Barbara City College for
a 6 pm conference match. |
