Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings cruise to three-game sweep of Irvine Valley College
It took only 70 minutes for the Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team to defeat visiting Irvine Valley College 3-0 in an interconference match Wednesday night.
The Vikings won the quick-paced match by scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-22.
Sophomore opposite-side hitter Jonathan Charette (Pearl City, HI) had a match-high 20 kills and added 2 blocks. Freshman outside hitter Ryun Georges (Valley Christian HS) chipped in with 12 kills, while sophomore setter Garrett Morales (Millikan HS) led LBCC with 49 assists.
“We were pretty beat up from our last match,” said second-year LBCC head coach Randy Totorp. “We really needed a quick win like this to get us going again.”
Last Friday at San Diego Mesa College, LBCC had two players go down with injuries.
Long Beach closes its interconference schedule with a 4-2 overall record. The Vikings open up Western State Conference play on Friday when they host Santa Monica College at 6 pm. |
