Men’s Volleyball:
Vikings earn conference title after 3-2 win over Moorpark
Long Beach City College clinched at least a share of the 2005 Western State Conference title on Wednesday night by defeating visiting Moorpark College 3-2 at home.
The Vikings won the match by scores of 21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, and 15-11.
Matt DeLotto (Clovis, Calif.) stepped up big for the Vikings tonight. He totaled 12 blocks (6 solo) and added 8 kills. Jonathan Charette (Pearl City, Hawaii) posted a match–high 22 kills.
The win improved Long Beach’s record to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in the WSC. The loss dropped Moorpark to 7-3 in conference play.
For LBCC head coach Randy Totorp, it’s his second straight conference title in as many seasons.
Long Beach can clinch the title outright with a win in its final regular-season match on Friday. The Vikings travel to Santa Monica for a 6 pm conference match.
