Volleyball:
Vikings
take second place at season opening LBCC Tournament
First-year
head coach Randy Totorp’s men’s volleyball team
opened up the 2004 season by taking second place
in their own LBCC tournament on Saturday.
The
Vikings breezed past their pool play and semifinal
opponents before losing to Club Baja Mexico in
the championship final by scores of 25-18, 20-25,
and 13-15. LBCC won nine straight games before
falling to Baja in Game 2 of the finals.
LBCC
started the day with pool play wins over Irvine
Valley College (25-16, 25-23), Santa Barbara City
College (25-22, 25-22), and Grossmont College
(25-23, 25-21). In the semifinals, the Vikings
beat Golden West College 25-21, 25-20 to earn
the trip to the championship final.
The
Vikings return to action this Saturday (Feb 7)
at the Santa Barbara City College tournament.
