Samudio's homerun gives Vikings 2-1 win at Pasadena
First baseman Vanessa Samudio led off the sixth inning with a solo home run over the right field fence to give the Long Beach City College softball team a 2-1, South Coast Conference victory over host Pasadena City College at Brookside Park.
Samudio's blast snapped a 1-1 tie and was the difference in a pitching duel between LBCC's Christine Gonzalez (10-4, 3-hitter, 6 K's) and PCC's Melissa O'Connor (7-3, scattered 8 hits and struck out 4).
The Lancers (12-7, 2-2) saw their winning streak snapped at six games and O'Connor had a personal 7-game win streak in the pitching circle broken. Long Beach improved to 12-6 and 2-1.
The Vikings host L.A. Harbor College on Wednesday (Mar 11) at 3 p.m. when they continue their game that was halted on February 25 because of darkness.
