Women’s Basketball:
Long Beach can't handle No. 1 Mt. San Antonio, fall 94-49
The Long Beach City College women's basketball team suffered a 94-49 South Coast Conference interdivision loss to No. 1 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday night at the Hall of Champions Gym.
Just last Friday, the Vikings hosted No. 4 state-ranked Pasadena and also suffered a big defeat.
But tonight, Long Beach had just seven players suited up to face the state's top-ranked team.
The Vikings kept pace with Mt. SAC for the first three minutes evening the score at 9-9. But Mt. SAC was too much. The Mounties led 44-19 at halftime and were never threatened.
Sophomore forward Kendra James led the Vikings with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Dijon Franklin chipped in with 16 points.
For Mt. SAC (22-1), Carmen Deal posted 19 points and 8 rebounds. Blaire Egardo added 18 points and 5 rebounds.
Long Beach (4-15) returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Compton College for a 6 p.m. SCC crossover game. |
