Women’s Basketball:
Long Beach suffers pair of losses at Pasadena tournament
The Long Beach City College women’s basketball team went 0-2 at last weekend’s (Dec. 6-7) Rose City Classic tournament at Pasadena City College.
LBCC suffered a tough 64-31 loss to San Bernardino Valley on Thursday night and fell to East Los Angeles 74-60 on Friday.
Against San Bernardino Valley, sophomore guard Dijon Franklin led the Vikings with 12 points and three steals. Sophomore guard Jocelyne Santos chipped in with a team-best five rebounds to go with two assists.
Long Beach bounced back with a much better game offensively, but still suffered the same results against East L.A.
The Vikings trailed by one point (27-26) at halftime, but were outscored 46-33 in the second.
Sophomore forward Kendra James came off the bench to post a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Franklin added 20 points and three assists in the loss.
Long Beach, now 2-7 overall, returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 13) when it hosts Cypress College in a non-conference game at the Hall of Champions Gym at 6 p.m. |
