Women’s Cross Country:
LBCC finishes eighth out of 18 teams at Orange Coast Classic
The Long Beach City College women’s cross country team totaled 265 points to finish in eighth place out of 18 teams at the highly competitive Orange Coast Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.
Leading the way was freshman Malia Palacios in 38th place. She cleared the 5K course with a time of 20:51.92. She was followed by sophomore Carley Lopez in 43rd place at 21:01.48.

Host Orange Coast won the team event with 24 points and OCC’s Kimone Hewitt was first with a time of 18:29.23.
Earlier this fall, the Vikings opened the season on September 5 with a 24th place finish out of 26 teams at the Cal State Fullerton Season Opener meet at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea. The competitive field in the race featured runners from NCAA Division I, Division II, NAIA, and community college schools.
Lopez led the Vikings with a time of 26:35.40 on the 6K course to finish in 133rd place. Palacios followed, clocking in at 27:18.80 for 166th place.
