Women’s Golf:
Stacy Komai to head LBCC women's golf program
Long Beach City College has named Stacy Komai its new women’s golf head coach for the upcoming fall 2008 athletic season.
Komai is currently the head coach of the men’s golf team at El Camino College and also a faculty member at Los Angeles Harbor College.
“We are excited to have Stacy Komai join the faculty and staff here at Long Beach City College,” said LBCC women’s athletic director Connie Sears. “Stacy had some outstanding recommendations and comes to us with a great deal of experience as a coach and player. She is also one of the few women currently coaching a men’s team.”
Prior to coaching at El Camino, Komai served as the head coach for the swimming and girl’s volleyball teams for one year at Glen A. Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights. She was also an assistant coach for the Fullerton College women’s golf team for two seasons.
As a player, Komai was a standout women’s golfer for Mt. San Antonio College for two seasons (1997-98). In 1998, she helped lead the Mounties to second place at the state championship tournament.
Komai earned her AA degree in liberal arts from Mt. SAC in 2000. In 2002, she received her bachelor of sciences degree in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton and went on to earn her master’s in kinesiology from CSUF in 2004.
