Women’s Soccer:
No. 14 Vikings play Santa Monica College to scoreless tie

The No. 14 nationally-ranked LBCC women’s soccer team played visiting Santa Monica College to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday in non-conference action.

The Vikings outshot Santa Monica by a 25-8 margin, but couldn’t capitalize on their chances.

Santa Monica (1-1-1) goalie Andy Grierman posted 10 saves, including six in the second half, to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard.

For Long Beach, sophomores Rita Brown (Valencia HS) and Sarah Phillips (Los Alamitos HS) combined to record the Vikings’ second shutout of the season. Brown posted three first-half saves while Phillips came up with two saves in the second.Long

LBCC (1-1-2) returns to action on Friday (Sep 8) when it travels to Orange Coast College for a 4 pm non-conference game.
