Women’s Soccer:
Unbeaten streak moves to 84, LBCC downs Antelope Valley 2-0

Sophomore midfielder Stephanie Leotti (Rowland HS) scored two goals to lead the No. 3 nationally-ranked Long Beach City College women’s soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference win against visiting Antelope Valley College Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings dominated the contest despite only scoring twice and outshot the Mauraders by a 45-1 margin.

The game remained scoreless until the 53rd minute when sophomore Mallroy Olloque (Millikan) fed Leotti in front of the goal with a short pass that she nailed by AVC goalie Chanel Weber to put LBCC up 1-0.

Leotti struck again just moments before the final whistle. The Vikings bombarded Chanel with three straight shots from close range until Leotti took a rebounded shot and snuck it in for her second score.

Weber made 15 saves in goal for Antelope Valley (1-7-0), while LBCC freshman goalie Sarah Phillips (Los Alamitos) had an easy time in posting her seventh shutout of the season.

The win extended LBCC’s national junior college-record unbeaten streak to 84 games.

Long Beach (8-0-1) returns to action tomorrow (Sep. 14) when they host Rio Hondo College in a 2 pm non-conference match.
