Women’s Soccer:
Long Beach plays El Camino to scoreless draw in conference opener

The Long Beach City College women’s soccer team played visiting El Camino College to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday in both teams’ South Coast Conference opener.

LBCC record moved to 6-4-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the SCC while El Camino went to 4-2-5 and 0-0-1 in conference play.

Long Beach outshot El Camino by a 14-12 margin and totaled nine corner kicks to ECC’s two, but could not finish any scoring opportunities.

Freshman Marilyn Montez posted seven saves in goal for Long Beach to earn her third straight shutout and sixth of the season.

El Camino keeper Liz Dominguez was just as impressive with seven saves.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Oct. 3) when it travels to Pasadena City College for a 1 p.m. SCC game.
