Women’s Soccer:
Estes’ hat-trick leads Long Beach to 4-0 win over L.A. Harbor

Freshman Kaitlynn Estes scored three second-half goals to lead the Long Beach City College women’s soccer team to a 4-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday.

The win improved the Vikings to 12-2-2 overall and 5-2-0 in conference play, while Harbor fell to 0-12-1 and 0-6-0 in the SCC.

After a scoreless first half, Estes took over for the Vikings.

Estes, primarily a defender for LBCC, was moved up to the midfield position, a decision by LBCC co-head coach Alex Camargo that paid off big.

Estes posted goals in the 58th, 63rd, and 72nd minutes. Her second goal came off a shot she nailed from the far right side of the field 25 yards out.

Freshman Franki Montgomery added a goal in the 81st minute to close out the scoring for the Vikings.

Sophomore Hannah Escamilla was credited with two assists, while freshman Stephanie Pimental assisted on Estes’ first goal.

The LBCC defense played another solid game by not allowing a shot to Harbor. The Vikings outshot the Seahawks by a dominating 37-0 margin.

Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Oct 23) when it hosts Pasadena City College in a 2 pm SCC game.
