Women’s Soccer:
Long Beach bounces back with 1-0 win over East Los Angeles
The Long Beach City College women’s soccer team bounced back from its tough 0-0 tie with Pasadena yesterday with a 1-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting East Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The win improved Long Beach to 13-2-3 overall and 6-2-1 in the SCC. East L.A. fell to 7-9-2 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play.
LBCC is currently tied with Mt. San Antonio for first place in the SCC standings.
The Vikings controlled the tempo throughout the contest and outshot East L.A. by an impressive 26-4 margin.
LBCC got its lone goal in the 35th minute.
Freshman forward Brooke Ehinger’s corner kick found freshman midfielder Christina Durant all alone in front of the net. She headed the ball in for the easy goal and the eventual game-winner.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Waters totaled two saves to post the Vikings’ 11th shutout of the season.
Long Beach returns to action on Thursday (Nov 1) when it travels to El Camino College for a SCC game at 2 pm. |
