Women’s Soccer:
Long Beach wins third straight, down L.A. Harbor 3-0

The Long Beach City College women’s soccer team closed out its regular season home schedule with a 3-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday.

The win was the Vikings third in a row and improved their record to 12-5-4 overall and 6-1-3 in the SCC.

The Vikings dominated the contest from the opening whistle and went on to outshoot Harbor by a hefty 35-3 margin.

Sophomore Mayra Carranza got LBCC on the scoreboard in the 16th minute. She headed in a corner kick from freshman Jimi Cassiani to give Long Beach the 1-0 lead.

In the 26th minute, sophomore Janna Lynn Mora sent a cross pass from the right side to freshman Ruza Cale. Cale then slipped a shot in the lower left corner past Harbor goalie Giselle Aispuro to give the Vikings the 2-0 advantage at halftime.

Freshman Kate Ronca closed the socring in the 84th minute. After a LBCC corner kick, she knocked in a loose ball in front of the net to put Long Beach up 3-0.

Freshmen Marilyn Montez and Ileana Aparicio both played 45 scoreless minutes in goal for Long Beach. Aparicio was credited with one save.

Aispuro posted nine saves in goal for Harbor (1-20-0, 0-10-0 SCC).

 The LBCC women return to action on Tuesday (Nov. 11) when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 2 p.m. SCC game.
