The Long Beach City College women finished in 14th place, while the men earned 21st place at last weekend’s California Community College Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships at Saddleback College.
Sophomore Jamie Baumler had a busy weekend for the LBCC women. She finished 12th in the 50-yard freestyle (25.60), 14th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.14) and 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (56.71).
Baumler also swam on the 800 freestyle relay (ninth, 8:19.20), the 400 freestyle relay (12th, 3:53.64) and the 200 medley relay (14th, 2:00.06).
On the men’s side, LBCC sophomore Damjan Dudic paced the Vikings with his three top-10 finishes. Dudic was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (21.46) and was 10th in both the 100-yard breaststroke (59.80) and 100-yard freestyle (47.04).
Freshman Kenji Miyahara added a 15th-place effort in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.25)
"Overall, we were extremely competitive," LBCC head coach Chris Oeding said. "It was the fastest state meet I've seen in over 10 years." |
