Head Coach: Suzie Witmer (3rd season)

Suzie Witmer returns for her third season as head coach of the LBCC women's volleyball team in 2008.

During her two seasons at LBCC, Witmer has compiled a 33-14 overall record and is 20-8 in conference matches.

Last season (2007), Witmer led the Vikings to their second straight playoff appearance. Long Beach compiled an 18-6 overall record and was second in the South Coast Conference with an 11-3 mark. The Vikings closed the year ranked No. 16 in the state.

In her first season at LBCC in 2006, Witmer led the Vikings to a 15-8 overall record, a No. 25 final regular season state ranking, and a berth in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. Long Beach finished fourth in the SCC at 9-5.

Witmer came to LBCC following a nine-year coaching career at Riverside Community College. In her first season as interim head coach in 2001, she led Riverside to the Southern California regional finals. In 2004, Witmer was named the Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year.

A three-sport athlete and a graduate of Elsinore High School, Witmer played two seasons at Riverside (1994-95) before continuing her education and volleyball career at California State University, Hayward.

She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a degree in kinesiology and earned her master’s degree in education from Azusa Pacific University.

In addition to coaching at RCC, Witmer also has an extensive background in coaching club teams in Southern California and the Bay Area. She also taught kinesiology classes at Cal State San Bernardino.
