Water Polo:
Long
Beach advances to state title game after 10-1
win over Sierra
The
Long Beach City College women’s water polo team
defeated Sierra College 10-1 in the state championship
semifinals Friday afternoon at Solano College.
LBCC win face rival Golden West College Saturday
at noon for the 2003 state championship.
Saturday’s
game marks the sixth time Long Beach and Golden
West will face each other this season. LBCC has
won four of the five previous meetings, including
last week’s 10-8 win in the Southern California
championship game.
It
is also the second year in a row that these two
teams will meet for the state title. Last year,
Golden West upset Long Beach 7-6.
Long
Beach , ranked No. 1 in the state, enters tomorrow’s
game with a 29-1 overall record.
Golden
West, ranked No. 2, beat Merced College 7-4 in
its semifinal game. The Rustlers have a 28-4 overall
record with all four loses coming from the Vikings.
